200,000m3 cut to fill, 250,000m3 cut to waste, clearing of large trees and bush, 100m high cut batters above existing road, machines crossing highway, 500 tonne rip rap protection, two side raod realignments, construction of two farm damns.
Laws Hill Realignment:
Description: 3.5kmof State Highway 57 realignment.
Location: Shannon
Contract Value: $3.5 million
Completion: 20 November 1999
2000 Wellington Branch Contractors Federation Winstone Aggregates Merit Award.
300,000m3 cut to fill in wet clay and loess, 250,000m3 cut to waste, clearing of pine trees and scrub, high inflow of ground water, monitoring of fill settlement, geotextile foundations, large fills and high batters, 2,000m of subsoil drainage, 4,000m kerb and channel.
Geogrid Reinforced Wall:
Description: Construction of geogrid reinforced retaining wall utilising gabion baskets, rip rap rock and geotextiles.
Location: Johnsonville, Wellington
Contract Value: $170,000
Completion: 30 October 2000
2001 Wellington Branch Contractors Federation Award Category B winner.
1,400m3 imported hardfill, 1,300m3 unsuitable excavation, 220m3 gabion baskets, 360m2 geogrid reinforced fill.
